The Via Francigena enter to Siena: Porta Camollia
Porta Camollia is located in the Istrice district. The gate serves as the point of entry to the city for pilgrims following the Via Francigena.
As you pass through Porta Camollia, you read: “Cor magis tibi sena pandit” engraved on the marble arch. Siena shows a heart bigger than this gate. I wanted to highlight this Latin quotation. To do so, I used the Istrice contrada’s colors and the typical fish-bone brick pattern of Piazza del Campo. This could expand, creating a colorful pattern through Siena. The colors of each contrada could pave the streets along the Via Francigena.
